Markethill Mart: Top price of £2600 paid for a 610k heifer

An entry of 600 cattle at Markethill on Saturday 21st November continued to sell in a very strong demand for all classes of stock.

HEIFERS

200 heifers returned an exceptionally strong demand with beef heifers and forward feeding heifers particularly well sought after.

Top price of £2600 was paid for a 610k heifer from R Powell Keady and donated to the Children’s HeartBeat Trust the purchaser was Philip Bailie Richhill on behalf on Primestock Meats Lurgan.

Main demand for beef heifers from £220 to £257 per 100 kilos for 650k Charolais at £1675 from a Belleeks farmer followed by £247 per 100 kilos for 670k Charolais at £1655 from an Annaghmore producer.

Top price £1725 was paid for 700k Charolais from an Annaghmore producer £245 per 100 kilos.

Good quality feeding heifers sold from £220 to £251 per 100 kilos paid for 596k at £1495 from a Gilford farmer followed by £234 per 100 kilos for 502k Aberdeen Angus at £1175 from a Forkhill farmer.

Good quality middleweight heifers sold to £252 per 100 kilos for 458k Limousin at £1155 from a Dromore producer followed by £248 per 100 kilos for 498k Aberdeen Angus at £1235 from a Forkhill farmer.

Main demand for good quality middleweights from £210 to £230 per 100 kilos.
